BOOK CLUB

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

"The cherry is not to prioritize your schedule, but to schedule your priorities."

Stephen R. Covey

Do you sometimes feel like you are a whirlwind of activity that never really gets anything done? You are not the only one who feels that way. In today's whirlwind life, the true achievement of effectiveness can seem to be a kind of superpower. This is where Stephen Covey's timeless "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" comes in.

Success isn't about finding an easy way around life's issues. It is a guide to personal development, teaching you the skills to become authentic and handle problems with certainty.

The following list gives a brief look at what you can anticipate:

  1. Habit 1: Be Proactive.

Unlike those who complain that their bad luck is caused by certain things, proactive individuals claim the role of a creator. They concentrate on what they can handle and persuade, rather than being forcibly led by external elements. One will create his/her future by the decisions made and the actions taken.

  2.  Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

Visualize life as if it were a painting where you're the artist. Habit 2 asks you to define the exact pattern of your life, and what you see inside your mind if everything goes in line with your plans. How will you be able to contribute to them as an individual? What do you want for yourself? However, by defining your goals and values, you are designing the path to your success.

  3. Habit 3: Put First Things First

The more accurate description of time management is not piling up additional tasks into your schedule but prioritizing the most essential ones. The stress of completion that would come with urgently important tasks is what takes you off the long-term goals. You are now capable of learning the priority and managing your time in such a way that you control it as if it were your worker.

Covey's motivating message isn't just limited to professional success. He underlines the essence of interdependence, the creation of strong relationships, and the way of a life of integrity.

Are you curious? The reserved version of the book dives deeper into the subject and gives practical exercises and applicable life instances to help you make those positive habits a part of your own life.

Willing to ignite your inner power? Consider listing this book as one of the books you will read. You may even be faced with the issue of where you can get to.

Happy Reading!

INSPIRATION

Women Who Paved the Way: The Inspiring Story of Cathy Hughes

Cathy Hughes

Can you imagine getting a media empire off the ground from nothing? That’s exactly what Cathy Hughes did. She transformed her love for radio into a very successful enterprise that opened the doors for millions to have a say.

Born and bred in Omaha, Nebraska, Cathy didn't mind if people thought she was overreaching. She began her career in radio and came to the realization in no time - there was a very large gap in the industry – a lack of representation for the Black community. Instead of just complaining, she decided to do something about it.

Cathy formed Radio One, and it was not just a company; it became a movement. She was the person who built the place that recognized the Black voices. She could be sure that it was a brave decision, and it was worth the risk. She is the first African American woman to become a CEO of a publicly traded company and also the youngest.

Cathy’s life is a message of the fact that through willpower, diligence, and an inordinate measure of courage, one can benefit from the papayas of success. She is a woman who has shown a great example to other women entrepreneurs.
